Q&A with Queen Puff Puff by Jennicakes
Nicole Vasbinder created Queen Puff Puff out of her love of stylish handbags and vintage fabric. After 8 years in the garment industry working in design, merchandising and sales, Nicole needed a creative outlet, so she started sewing handbags for herself and for gifts.
Each Queen Puff Puff style is a beautifully made limited edition and is handmade in her Bay Area studio. Nicole has recently added fabulous belts, make-up bags, and wallets to the line, and the collection is available in boutiques around the country and online.
Most crafty gals hate revealing their secrets! What made you
decide to print patterns and share your headbands with the world?
Really? I love sharing all my secrets. That's why I teach. I've been so
lucky to have had so many wonderful teachers in my life and now it's my turn
to give back. I decided to sell my headband patterns because it's a fun
beginning sewing project that takes less than an hour. People love the sense
of instant gratification!
What's the best part of teaching your craft?
I love seeing people's eyes light up when they "get" it. It's that moment
when they realize that they can make something on their own and don't need
to buy it.
Other than your headbands, do you have a favorite QPP accessory at
the moment?
I absolutely LOVE the new Marlo totes. Nice and roomy and chic too!
