Denise writes: "Hey, I'm Denise, but everyone calls me Neesy Pea. I grew up in Northern California, and just moved with my cartoonist hubby Nathan and kitty Flash Meowzdower to beautiful North Carolina, in October 2006. My mother taught me the love of crafting, sewing, and crochet when I was a kid, and I never stopped. I started my web site biz in October of 2002, and have loved every second of it, and I hope you do to!

So many things inspire me: vintage fashion, old photographs, rain clouds, stories from grannies and everything cute and kitschy. My wheels never stop spinning and I'm always creating something new."

What made you decide to start making DIY knitting needle kits?

I was on HGTV's show "That's Clever!" in 2005, where I made a custom set of sushi inspired knitting needles made with dowel rods and polymer clay. After the segment aired I decided to make the DIY knitting needle kits as a way for people to make a similar project like the one I demonstrated on the show.

Do you have a favorite pair of knitting needles, or some other tool that's special to you?

I have an old pair of vintage aluminum knitting needles that I use all the time, they are the perfect size and I don't like using any others for my knitting projects.

Are you hand-making anything special for the holidays?

Right now I'm crocheting a bunch of hats and decorating them with vintage buttons and fabric yo-yos, for the up and coming cold winter months!
