October Interview: Sewing Stars!

Here's a ten-minute interview I conducted with Teresa of Sewing Stars! She's super! Visit her site!

A portion of this interview appeared in the October Sampler Booklet. I will be posting more interviews from October throughout the month! Hooray!

Here goes: who are you and why?
i am Teresa by day and sewing stars by night. it's like being a crafty superhero...
oooh...that's my next question! what are your superhero powers?!
i can sew stuffed creatures in under an hour, i have the largest stash of fabric, and i bake cookies in my 'spare time'
do you find balancing your dual identities difficult?
yes. being teresa by day means knowing everything, and then i am really tired by the time i have to be sewing stars. but i do what i love.
can I have a cookie?
yes. i'll bake you some...
Sweet!
i have a coconut cookie recipe on my website
who or what is your crafty-superhero arch-nemesis?
my television is my arch nemesis. i get sucked into it very easily. sometimes i do finishing, hand sewing work in front of it, thus defeating it sometimes.
Interesting. Why are so many girls making things these days?
my theory is that homemakers got such a bad wrap in the 70's and 80's that we as young creative females want to rebel against what the pre-conceived notion of homemaking activities were, and make it all really cool and unique again.
I have a friend who would love to be a homemaker but thinks her feminist friends would look down on her. Thoughts?...oh, and that isn't a veiled way of speaking about myself!
being feminist doesn't mean throwing out your sewing machine and knitting needles, it means making stuff that you want to make. by making things yourself it's more special than buying the same thing made in china, you know?
actually, yes, I do know
we have only a minute left and I would like to ask several quick ?'s
dog or cat?
both
tom or jerry?
tom
ketchup, mustard, mayo?
mayo
carbs?
yes, all of them!
digital or analog?
both
are sergers cheating?
no! i wish i had one sometimes...
drapes or blinds?
drapes
well... I think that's ten minutes did you have a fun time?
yeah, thanks, i almost never use my im
