Knitting Pattern: Gummy Jelly Baby

This knitted gummy jelly baby pattern knit's up super fast making it perfect for a charity knitting project.
Materials...
  • 4mm Needles
  • 8 ply or Double worsted weight yarn
  • Toy Filling
  • Darning needle size = 6 inch (15cm)

Instructions...

  • Cast on 20sts
  • Row 1: Purl
  • Next row : Inc K wise into every st - 40sts
  • Beginning with a P row st-st 5 rows.

Shape Feet:

  • K4 (K3 tog) 4 times. K8 (K3 tog) 4 times, K4 - 24 sts

Body:

  • Beginning with a P row, st-st 15 rows.

Shoulders:

  • K4 (K2 tog) 2 times, K8 (K2 tog) 2 times, K4 - 20sts.
  • Purl next row.

Shape head:

  • K6, inc into next 8 sts , K6 - 28sts
  • Beginning with a P row, st-st 15 rows.
  • Next row: K2 tog to the end - 14sts
  • Next row: K2 tog to the end - 7sts
  • Thread yarn though rstrongaining sts and fasten off.

Arms: (make 2)

  • Cast on 4 sts.
  • Next row knit into back of stitches.
  • P 1 row.
  • Next row: Inc K wise into every stitch - 8sts
  • Begining with a P row st-st 9 rows.
  • Next row : K2 together to end.
  • Thread yarn through stitches and fasten off.

To make up:
Sew it together so that the seam is centre of the back.Beginning with the head first then bottom half of the body.

Leave an opening in the centre of the back for the filling.

Once filled sew up the gap. Using a length of yarn create the legs by sewing a seam down the middle of the leg end around 2 inch (5cm) in size.

Sew around the neck line to define the head.

Arms:
Sew the side seams and fill with wadding then sew securely into place onto the body.

For a variation of this pattern make a tiny jelly baby and a giant jelly baby by halving your stitches and rows for the tiny one and doubling your stitches and rows for the larger one.
