Don't Press Me invitations and stationary replaces the personal touch lost in instant messaging. We utilize a more than 600-year-old technology, the letterpress, to handcraft unique, professional and special messages on some of the most beautiful papers available. Though motifs, ink and paper colors, we customize each invitation to reflect our customers' style and story. Stationary has redefined itself as more than just a communication device -- as a work of art. There‚s something instantly gratifying in receiving a handcrafted message. A connection develops between sender and receiver through the look, feel and smell of paper. People who receive Don‚t Press Me products know that they are holding more than just a note -- they're holding art, that will likely find itself on their refrigerator. Most importantly they know someone cared enough to touch them in a special way. It‚s personal without being folky. It's tangible. And it's you.

I am a crazy lady with a kiln and a plan... WATCH OUT! Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, I studied art at a math and science school and math and science at an arts school. In college I studied abroad in Germany and Japan, where I fell in love with ceramics. Then, I had my son and fell in love with him too, which distracted me from the whole 'I want to be a self-sufficient artist' thing for awhile, but now after a couple of years working in the mental health field and doing AmeriCorps VISTA I have my very first studio. I run a daycare during the day to be at home with my son and make funKtional pottery at night and on weekends.

Altar Magazine believes that problems are not monolithic, and neither are solutions. It is imperative to have socially progressive women and men fighting on all fronts of the movement whether that is anti-racist work, feminism, anti-heterosexism, economic justice or any other political action. Altar Magazine exists within a community that is fragmented, but not broken. It exists in a time when coalition is crucial and must be implemented. We believe that the personal is political; therefore, all forms of creativity are inherently political. We want to create a space where critical thought and understanding happen simultaneously. This is important because before we can create social change we must be able to re-imagine communities that foster difference. We must be able to take ownership of that which we do not claim in order to effectively critique this oppressive system that we know and perpetuate. Social change is not momentous. It is a process. Our hope is that each individual recognizes his or her place within this system of change.

The youngest of seven children in a family of artists, I have always been interested in creating art. From my first endeavors in watercolors and construction paper to my current work in jewelry making, I have sought to create beauty where- and whenever I can. My inspiration comes from vintage colors and patterns, from nature, from functionality, and from what I have on hand. My philosophies revolve around reusing, repurposing, and utilizing what is available to inspire beauty. I also believe in art as an attainable entity, as present in our everyday lives.// The name Oshe (pron. '/O/-shee') is my childhood nickname, which I haven't quite grown out of. It was given to me by my family, when I could not correctly pronounce 'Rosie.' No, you cannot call me Rosie today!

This line of jewelry evolved as a way to share the beauty of antique buttons as miniature pieces of art while turning them into modern conversation piece jewelry. This became a treasure hunt to find lovely & unique buttons from around the world. Most have traveled from Europe & old estates of the eastern United States. Each button is lovingly cleaned to reveal its former glory and patina & the majority are over 100 years old. Plastic and modern buttons are not used.

mama merit badges was started as a response to the dearth of authentic recognition for the very hard work of mothering. Overly sentimentalized depictions of motherhood belie the actual daily duties that alternately feel like drudgery, brave political acts, and absurd performance art. This irreverent award system invites public dialogue about and visual recognition for the unpaid and often ignored labor that is parenting.

Lisa Chouinard likes to melt things. Her DIY health and beauty business, Feto Soap, was born after she purchased a soap making kit from a local craft store and became hooked on making soap. Her first commercial soap, the popular (and controversial) Feto Soap contains small, colorful polymer clay fetos and has been featured in For Him Magazine in the UK, United States, and Indonesia. Feto Soap has also been in an Italian magazine, People in Groove. But Feto Soap is not just about making a statement--it's about quality, 100% DIY soaps, lotion bars, lip balms and body sprays designed, labeled, promoted--and melted--by Lisa herself. Visit her online store at www.fetosoap.com for a complete line of beauty products.

The first wabisabi brooklyn collection debuted in May 2007 and has already gained a following. Relying on word of mouth and the wabisabi brooklyn website, fans are already tracking wabisabi brooklyn down to find the perfect gift for a loved one. The brainchild of schoolteacher MaryAnne Loverme, who makes paper and metal jewelry creations in her Brooklyn kitchen, wabisabi brooklyn lists its NickelnDimed and Penny Ante collections, which are made using real coins, among its most popular. Asked to explain what drives such enthusiasm, MaryAnne replies, "Decoupage is not typically used to make jewelry. When people see our wares, they often think they're enameled. But decoupage allows me to take advantage of the image-rich environment that we live in. I also get a kick out of turning objects that have little value like coins and paper into gorgeous jewelry. People really respond to that, and I think that's what has driven the loyalty of some customers!" Wabisabi brooklyn creations are available online at http://www.wabisabibrooklyn.com, and at shops in New York City, San Francisco, and Baltimore. Visit http://www.wabisabibrooklyn.com for more information.

I'm a 20-something Children's Librarian (by day) and proud to admit that my hand up a puppet's butt is a beautiful thing. Seriously my puppet shows are Oscar worthy! I can leap the book stacks in a single bound. The dewey decimal system rocks my world and yes I do know where Waldo is! A few things I've said during a day of work: "Max Put Your Pants On, There Are No Naked Butts At Storytime!" "Hannah We Don't Lick The Books!" "No We Do Not Have Any Actual Photographs of Jesus, Ma'am" I've also uttered "On Your Booties Cuties" and "Shhhhh!" More times than I'd like to admit. Yankee Girl Designs started as a way to help me relax after a day of wrangling screaming meatloafs and it's evolved into so much more. I love working with beads and stones and ending up with something kick-ass to wear. Mixing and matching different stones has become a passion of mine. I'm hoping that this buisness really takes off, my dream is to be a Stay-At-Home-Mom to my own weasels, once my hubby and I breed :)
