EtsyRAIN is a group of North West based artists and crafters who all sell their wares on http://www.etsy.com. Throughout the past year, we have met to help each other brainstorm different business ideas, to swap crafting supplies, for shared tables at the craft shows we now dominate and sometimes just for beer. There is such a huge collection of talent that our Sampler donation barely scratches the surface of what our over 200 different members can do.

Allison Biggs is a designer that can't make up her mind. She loves all things creative, but can't devote herself to solely one medium. She is graphic designer by day, paper and jewelry designer by night. In 2003, Allison received her Bachelors in graphic design, and has since been working as a freelance graphic designer. In 2004, she started her first business, Midnight Firefly jewelry, and later began designing paper goods in 2007. She is constantly inspired by the world around her, and takes special care to incorporate color and texture into all of her work. She is a firm believer that everyone should have the opportunity to be surrounded with good design.

Howdy from the Lone star state! My name is Anh and I'm not much of a writer (a bit nervous about this blurb), but I've been crafty and creative every since I was little. I pursue on a piece of advice given by my Jewelry Making & Metalsmithing professor and an inherited box of beads & findings; out came Eye Candy Treasure. I started Eye Candy Treasure in June of this year (fairly new). I make jewelry but also dabble in other accessories. To simply put it; I make whatever my heart desires.

In 2005, while in college, T&A started out as an art collaborative between two friends. Their mutual love for food and laughs is what has driven T&A's work. In October 2006, these ladies decided to expand on their ideas by introducing innovative, but always silly, plush pieces. Amongst these are the widely loved, Stuft Acquaintances, or "plushy taxidermy" as they were nicknamed by early fans and plush foods such as sushi and fortune cookies. The laughs don't stop there. Late in 2007, T&A decided to return to their roots--with a vengeance! More art shows are in the works for these two, which will display wackier creations. T&A are always up to something new so be sure to visit www.tafriendly.com to check out what's new with these two.

I'm a 20-something Children's Librarian (by day) and proud to admit that my hand up a puppet's butt is a beautiful thing. Seriously my puppet shows are Oscar worthy! I can leap the book stacks in a single bound. The dewey decimal system rocks my world and yes I do know where Waldo is! A few things I've said during a day of work: "Max Put Your Pants On, There Are No Naked Butts At Storytime!" "Hannah We Don't Lick The Books!" "No We Do Not Have Any Actual Photographs of Jesus, Ma'am" I've also uttered "On Your Booties Cuties" and "Shhhhh!" More times than I'd like to admit. Yankee Girl Designs started as a way to help me relax after a day of wrangling screaming meatloafs and it's evolved into so much more. I love working with beads and stones and ending up with something kick-ass to wear. Mixing and matching different stones has become a passion of mine. I'm hoping that this buisness really takes off, my dream is to be a Stay-At-Home-Mom to my own weasels, once my hubby and I breed :)

The Crafty Scientist was started in January 2005, and we are proud to introduce ourselves to the crafty community with this February Sampler offering! Go Sampler! The Crafty Scientist is the all encompassing creative arm of Sleeping Hound Knits, a specialty knitwear design house started in May 2002 by Dayna Mankowski, part time pharmacist and part time biomedical researcher (The "Scientist"), and her trusty partner in craft, long haired whippet Isaac DitterMan (The "Sleeping Hound"). The love for all things crafty keeps Dayna up late at night making all sorts of creations, especially those that repurpose or recycle materials into something new (bags, scarves, toys). Craftyscientist.com is under construction, and it is being planned as a showcase for art and craft made by scientists. Items will be featured that can be made to order, and there will be some items available for purchase. Only lack of time is keeping the Scientist of Craft from stocking the shop! Goodies planned to be stocked are fun and functional lunch bags, knit wear, hand bags and totes, and the new recycled plastic messenger bag/disc golf bag. There are always new crafts being done, so the selection will vary! The repurposed wool felted cat toy for the Sampler has been a fall project for local cat adoption shelters, including Durham/Middlefield's Cause for Paws. For a $2.00 donation, a handmade cosmic cat toy can be had that provides hours of fun for your feline! Since Christmas 2004, we have raised over $100.00! 100% of the profits go to this organization.
